Oh Gabriel stands for gender equality the world over and believes in a society free from patriarchal oppression.
Oh Gabriel is documenting the dating experiences women have in a free society. The stories are candid recollections, of mostly brief liaisons, revealing the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of dating.
The stories reflect the fact that in Western society we are free to choose who we date and what we do with our bodies, without shame or retribution.
In Afghanistan, this is not the case, and Oh Gabriel wants to raise awareness of a charity which has, since 2015, been empowering Afghan women to become role models and leaders in their country through climbing expeditions.
But the charity, run by American Marina LeGree, had to press pause in August 2021 when the Taliban, who rule by Sharia Law, declared their bid to take over Afghanistan victorious following the vacation of coalition forces.
Immediately, the charity switched focus to providing protection to its women and girls, including staff, securing the resettlement of a number of women to countries including Ireland, Denmark and Chile.
Changing tact, Ascend Afghanistan is now focusing on supporting those who have been evacuated, such as ensuring they have basic resources to live, including medical assistance, clothing and cash, as well as the women and girls left behind in Kabul.
In 2023 the Ascend team launched Ascend Pakistan.
The charity is committed to building future programmes in the country so it can continue to support women and girls going forward, in increasingly volatile circumstances, whatever the future may hold.
